Suicide blast in Pakistan kills one police constable, injures others

A suicide blast has taken place in the I-10/4 area of Islamabad, as a result of which 1 police constable is martyred and 3 injured.

According to the police, head constable Adeel Hussain was martyred in the blast while the injured officers were shifted to Pims Hospital of the capital. The police have said that the driver of the suspect vehicle has also died as a result of the explosion.

According to DIG Islamabad Sohail Zafar Chatta, there was a man and a woman in the car. A heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies has cordoned off the area.

According to the spokesperson of Islamabad Police, security was on high alert in Islamabad and checking was going on during which the police constable stopped the suspicious vehicle for checking. The suicide bomber blew himself up as soon as the vehicle stopped.

Sources say that the sound of the explosion was heard far away, after which the police also reached the blast spot.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Condemns Blast

Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that a vehicle full of explosives entered Islamabad from Rawalpindi this morning to target a high-value person in Islamabad.

Rana Sanaullah added that the Eagle Squad stopped the car as it was suspicious while patrolling, and at the same time there was an explosion in the car in which the two terrorists were killed. The investigation of the explosion has been started with the help of Safe City cameras. With the help of Safe City cameras, it will be detected where the vehicle came from.

Security on high alert in Rawalpindi and Islamabad after Blast

According to media reports, after the suicide blast in Islamabad, security has been put on high alert in Rawalpindi district and all entry and exit routes have been blocked.
