Sahiwal Medical College organizes Smog Awareness Walk

Principal Sahiwal Medical College Professor Dr. Muhammad Imran Hasan Khan has said that nowadays pollution is the biggest problem for human health.

Pollution is a major cause of lung and throat diseases and is also leading to more dangerous diseases especially cancer.

There is a need to avoid vehicular fumes, crop residue burning and use of polluting fuels to protect human health. Clean air is of fundamental importance for human health.

He was addressing the participants of a smog awareness walk in collaboration with the Department of Pulmonology and Department of Nose, Ear and Throat (ENT) of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital here.

MS Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Supra, Head of ENT Department Dr. Shahid Ali, Head of Pulmonology Department Dr. Muhammad Waseem, Head of Urology Department Dr. Nisar Ahmed Saeedi, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zeeshan, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Amjad participated in the walk.

Apart from this, among the participants were Dr. Muhammad Asif, Dr. Shafiq Langriyal, Dr. Sarfraz, Dr. Hasif Raza, Dr. Aoun Bin Shahid, Dr. Shahid Parvez, Dr. Abdul Rafi, Dr. Zareen Amjad, Assistant Professor Dr. Saeeda Bano, Dr. Mehwish and Dr. Muhammad Usman along with house officers and a large number of paramedical staff.

He urged the public to use protective measures to prevent respiratory diseases and generally use masks in this severe cold weather.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Sapra informed the participants of the walk about the ill effects of smog. Head of ENT, Dr. Shahid Ali, gave detailed information regarding the increase in nose, ear and throat diseases due to smog and stressed on measures to reduce smog.

Dr. Waseem also informed respiratory patients about smog prevention and precautions.
