RTA extends Metro functioning hours during FIFA World Cup 2022

The last metro will leave 45 minutes after the last game.

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai known as RTA extends Metro functioning hours during FIFA World Cup 2022. The last metro will leave 45 minutes after the last game.

For the FIFA world cup, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has revised the timings of Metro operating hours to make the football season journey smooth for its valuable commuters.

The changes in timings are effective from December 9, Friday. These timings will last for the whole FIFA event in Qatar. The change in timings is for the ease of the passengers to avoid any kind of delay or issue during the football matches.

The last Metro will leave 45 minutes after the last game. There will be an extension of an additional 1.5 hours of service as well. The change in timings are as follows:

  • On Dec 9 Friday and Dec 10 Saturday, Metro will operate from 5 am to 2 am (the next day).
  • On Dec 13 Tuesday and Dec 14 Wednesday, Metro will operate from 5 am to 2 am (the next day).
  • On Dec 17 Saturday, the Metro will operate from 5 am to 1 am (the next day).
  • On Dec 18 Sunday, the Metro will operate from 8 am to 1 am (the next day).

During the FIFA world cup in Qatar, around 1400 regular Dubai Metro trips, 60 public buses, 700 private and public taxis, and three marine shipments are announced by the authorities to provide support and give provision to Dubai transport of around 1200 commuters per hour.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) previously revealed the master plan for the management of the mobility of Dubai residents and fan zone visitors in Dubai.

The master plan also consists of strategies to facilitate the fan movements who are flying to Qatar from Al Maktoum International Airport. The authorities also consider the real-time traffic situations for the allocation of resources accordingly.
