Dubai to host the biggest meteor shower of the year
Residents can watch the spectacular meteor shower hosted by Dubai Astronomy.

On the night of Dec 14 -15, get ready to watch Geminids Meteor Shower hosted by Dubai Astronomy Group for UAE residents. The skies all over the UAE will blaze with a meteor shower.
Geminids Meteor Shower in Dubai
The pieces of scrap that enter at a speed of up to 70 km per second into our planet’s atmosphere are called a Geminids Meteor Shower.
It evaporates and produces stripes of light called meteors. The production of meteors depends upon light pollution and other factors as well.
Although this glorious meteor shower is known for the production of over 150 meteors per hour.
What is the date of the event?
UAE residents can watch the event on 14 Dec, Wednesday, and 15 Dec, Thursday. Though it is expected that there may be nosiness from 70% floodlit moon, that will outstrip dimmer meteors.
CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group, Hasan Al Hariri stated that the residents don’t require any distinct equipment or any type of skill to watch a meteor shower.
The residents must be away from the city lighting and should manage a quiet viewing spot with a clear sky. That is all needed to watch a meteor shower.
Those who are ready and planning to watch the meteor shower in a desert under the sky must carry warm clothes with them. As it will get cold in the open air and will be difficult to stay in cold under the sky.
Venue and time of the event?
The event will start at 8 pm and will continue till midnight at Al Qudra in Dubai. The event will include the reflection of Mars, Jupiter, Moon, and Saturn by using a telescope; astrophotography session; sky plotting; naked-eye observation of the meteors, and others.
