History of United Arab Emirates in a timeline

The history of the United Arab Emirates is linked to trade that entered the region in 630AD.

The United Arab Emirates is actually the name of a union of seven states as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

This island is located on the eastern coast of Arabia. The history of the United Arab Emirates is linked to trade that entered the region in 630AD.

Its coast occupied by European invaders for trade purposes. The area remained under British colonial control in the 19th century.

At last shipments of gems and diamonds were discovered resulting the UAE gained independence in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The United Arab Emirates then created employment opportunities for the Gulf people in the summer. Int the winter palm cultivation provided a source of income.

This traded and income opportunities continued until the middle decades of the 20th century, during which oil companies searched for the oil.

In the end of 1960s, the British colonialism announced withdrawal from the Gulf. The rulers of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah signed an agreement to run the country. In this way a federation known as the United Arab Emirates was established on December 2, 1971. The seventh emirate of Ras Al Khaimah joined the federation in the following year.

System of Government in the United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is constitutionally a federal state established in 1971. This constitution provides equal opportunities and equal rights to all citizens of the linked 7 states.

Government in the United Arab Emirates is held through a selection process. Thus, the president of the state is elected by the rulers of the seven emirates who form the Federal Supreme Council.

The political system of the United Arab Emirates is based on the constitution which is determined by the five federal authorities.

Hisotry of the United Arab Emirates flag

Who designed UAE flag? Here is the answer. Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Al Ma’enah won the competition of the state flag design which was held in Abu Dhabi. It was held under the auspices of Diwan al-Amiri.

Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Al Ma’enah designed the Untied Arab Emirates flag which was inspired by a poem by the famous poet Safi al-Din al-Hilli.

The UAE flag is rectangular in shape, twice as long as it is wide. It consists of four colors red, green, white and black and resembles the English letter E.

The flag of teh United Arab Emirates was first hoisted on 2 December 1971 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan on the occasion of the declaration of the Federation of the United Arab Emirates.

Seven Emirates of the United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates was fully established on December 2, 1972 and was made up of 7 emirates with Abu Dhabi as its capital.

Abu Dhabi

It is the largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates. It is the political, administrative and economic center of the UAE. Abu Dhabi accounts for 60% of the gross domestic product of the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai

It has the second largest area and is an international city having Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab. In the past it was called Johorat al-Alam (jewel of the world) while it was also called Lullat al-Khalij (Pearl of the Gulf).

Ajman

It is the smallest emirate of the United Arab Emirates, but it has a mountain range that distinguishes it from other emirates.

Ras Al Khaimah

It is the fourth largest in terms of area and is divided into two parts: Nakheel and Old Ras Al Khaimah.

Fujairah

Fujairah is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Oman. Fujairah is also located on Wadi Ham Road. It is a commercial road that has been used for commercial purposes.

Sharjah

It is the third largest state in terms of area, consists of several small cities and the emirate has many educational institutions that play a role in nurturing new talent. It is accelerating the economic development in the UAE.

Umm Al-Quwain

It is the smallest emirate in terms of population. It was established on a narrow peninsula known as Khor al-Badayah.

Climate of the United Arab Emirates

Most area of the United Arab Emirates consists of desert with large sand dunes. Along the Arabian Gulf there are many empty fields. There are rocky mountains in the northeastern regions.

The peak of Jabal Bil Ays or Jabal Jais is the highest peak in the United Arab Emirates. The sand dunes in Arab are the largest sand dunes in the world. The winters in the Emirates are mild, while the summers are harsh.

The rains here are quite less. But sometimes the rains become heavy. But despite this, the weather is not cold but moderate.

History of Dubai Museum

Built in 1787, Dubai Fort was later used as an artillery arsenal. The site was opened as a museum in 1971.

It depicts ancient Dubai through ‘statues and architectural displays’ to attract tourists coming from all over the world.

The shops, madrasas, boats with relevant voices are created in such a way that passing in front of them gives the illusion of real life.
