How can freelancers apply for 5-year residency in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates has introduced the 5-year Green Visa to attract freelancers from all over the world.
As stated by the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO), freelancers can sponsor themselves through Green Visa which eliminates the need for employment to reside in the United Arab Emirates.
If a freelancer manages to get green visa, he can sponsor his sons up to the age of 25 and unmarried daughters, regardless of their ages. This green visa is valid for 5 years.
How to apply for Green Visa?
As stated by the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO), freelancers are eligible to apply for green visa in case they fulfil the following criteria:
- A freelancer must obtain a freelance work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE).
- The minimum educational qualification is a bachelor’s degree, a specialized diploma or equivalent.
- Annual income from freelancing for the previous two years should not be less than 360,000 AED or its equivalent in foreign currencies.
A freelancer can submit Green Visa applications as per the rules and regulations of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) on their website.
